A new cash for clunkers program!

Details here. SIG-SAUER offers $200 for a trade in handgun if you buy one of theirs.

I can't imagine there are very many (if any) fully functional firearms of .38/9mm or greater that are not worth more than $200 on the used market. Especially after you deduct the cost of mailing to Sig.

Oh? Wanna buy an AMT BackUp .40?

Link does not appear to be working now.

I wonder how many hipoint pistols they are going to receive as "trade-ins". Would be funny if someone traded in a new-in-box-just-purchased-never-fired hipoint for the $200 credit.

Meh. The Sig-Sauer pistols are fine weapons, but unless you are going to shoot it every day, who needs that level of gun construction?

A Glock will do everything a Sig will do, and it's about a third cheaper.

In 9mm, for that matter, a Kel-Tec will do what either a Sig OR a Glock will do, and it's 1/3 the price of a Sig and 2/3 the price of a Glock.

Buy what you can afford, and that means afford to practice with, too.

As for me, I just never have cared for the feel of a Glock. It's got that funky "dart-gun" trigger that kinda goes "ftwang".

I like the feel of a Sig way better.

Don't think I've ever fired a Kel-Tec.

Of course, when it comes down to it, the best gun when you need one is the one you have.
