New AZ law in effect

Posted by David Hardy · 29 July 2010 01:21 PM

As of today, Arizona's ban on CCW without a permit has expired. Not that it makes much difference to us 1911 lovers. Sorta hard to conceal one -- in AZ, it wasn't concealed if any part of the firearm was visible.

Mr. Hardy, I've concealed a full size 1911 (alloy frame, I admit) quite effortlessly in nothing more than shorts and a polo or jeans & t-shirt, even here in the heat of Tucson.

I have no problem concealing a widebody 1911 in Phoenix in the summer. A single stack would be even easier.

Concealed or not, what I value is the right to carry a handgun however I choose. Where I can conceal it or not, where I don't have to worry about printing, or the muzzle poking out from under my shirt, or whatever. I guess I view it as the right to bear arms ... or carry a handgun in this case. I don't need the state trying to micromanage my various personal preferences. That's freedom, to me.
